This piece represents my two sisters. We’ve been in and out of touch over the years. Which wasn’t our fault. My parents got a really nasty divorce. You know, the kind where children needed to pick a side. And of course I was alone on my side. People getting a divorce is a good thing, if you can’t stand each other anymore, get the hell out! But don’t screw over your kids in the process. But what’s done is done and that’s okey. I love them anyway. I find it amazing how siblings with the same parents can be so completely different. Different interests, different jobs, different temperament. But there also a lot of common ground. I share the love for animals with my little sister. The love for food and books with my big sister. The style of these paintings are different. I wanted to keep the faces of the sisters soft. So instead of using hard graphic elements I used a wet brush to add soft colours to their faces.
